A True “Public Safety Servant” in this race!

IDEOLOGY

• Government solely exists to serve its People!
• The welfare of the people must be the highest priority’ of the office of Mayor.
• To maintain this environment of “care and concern”, there must be free flow of information and communication, i.e., Transparency!

I will pledge to provide necessary professional and municipal skills to implement this focus.  To be successful at this endeavor, citizens and government must work together to improve Pittsburgh’s financial security.  We can pursue progressive ideas and strategies to increase revenue.  We must commit to success by giving up old ideas that don’t work. Current Government’s Band-Aid approach to maintaining Public safety and delivering necessary services is antiquated and those old methods have proven to be seriously flawed. Restructuring debt to stave off the fall of Pittsburgh can not be the only solution.

It is imperative that we completely understand what it means to operate under Act 47, (distress city status).   City residents must demand forward thinking solutions.  We must demand a scalpel as the prescribed instrument in terms of our budget and not a hatchet.  We must stop allowing the needs of a few (upper level managers and campaign donators), to dictate the needs of the public at large.   Proper delivery of service is the measure of a true Leader and  the only way a leader can demonstrate “care and concern” for its citizens.

I am asking you to help mobilize every stakeholder; we must educate ourselves about our Government’s problems and encourage a participative approach to problem solving.    This is very practical!  The City’s future is equally the responsibility of every citizen as it is the responsibility of our Government.  When government listens to the complaints, opinions and solutions of its people it becomes proactive and not reactive and therefore successful.
